Welcome to The Scottsdale Fire and Life Safety Foundation, a newly established organization committed to bolstering the efforts of the Scottsdale Fire Department. Our foundation is dedicated to advancing the safety and welfare of all members of our community – residents, visitors, and businesses alike. By minimizing the risk of wildfires and ensuring our firefighters are equipped and supported to uphold their duty with excellence, we aim to foster a secure environment for all who call Scottsdale home.
Debbie Steinhauer
Community Volunteer
Debbie Steinhauer is passionate about giving to the community. An expert in starting Non-Profit Foundations, she is the Founder of Fox River Grove Recreation Counsel (1984), Co-Founder/Chair VOICES (1992), Seattle Fire Foundation (2019), and the Scottsdale Police Foundation (2023). As Founder and CEO of the Scottdale Police Foundation, she volunteers her time to the organization and is responsible for the management of the organization, the Board and integration of the various programs into the community.
Outside of Debbie’s volunteer work, Debbie spent her career in Health Care Executive Leadership as Director of Physician Services, then moved to owning two successful restaurants. She lives in North Scottsdale with her husband and three dogs.
Rory Sandstrom
Director of Development and Capital Group
Rory Sandstrom is Director of Development and Capital Group. He is responsible for identifying and executing development opportunities, sourcing capital and maintaining relationships with institutional investors. In his previous position, Rory was a fixed income portfolio manager and market maker at Citigroup where he managed a portfolio of risk in excess of one billion dollars notional. His mandate was to express views in high yield and distressed capital structures with an emphasis on homebuilder, hotel, REIT, and retail sectors. Rory holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and is a certified public accountant.
Sasha Weller
I currently serve as a Captain for the Scottsdale Fire Department. I am the President of the United Scottsdale Firefighters Association. I started my career in the fire service in 1994. My wife and I have been married for twenty seven years. She is a teacher for SUSD. We have one son who attends ASU.

Michael R. Egeck
Chief Executive Officer & Director Leslie Pools
Mr. Egeck joined the Leslie Pool’s in February 2020. Previously, Mr. Egeck served as the Chief Executive Officer of PSEB Group, a $1.5 billion operating company composed of the Eddie Bauer outdoor brand and teen retailer PACSUN. Mr. Egeck has more than three decades of experience and a proven track record of driving transformational growth for a variety of brands and business models including: Chief Executive Officer of Eddie Bauer (from 2012 to 2020); Chief Executive Officer of Hurley International, a division of Nike, Inc. (from 2011 to 2012); President of True Religion Apparel, Inc. (from 2010 to 2011); President of VF Corp’s Contemporary Brand Coalition (from 2007 to 2009); Chief Executive Officer of Seven For All Mankind, prior to its acquisition by VF Corp. (from 2006 to 2007); President of VF Corp’s Outdoor and Action Sports Coalition (from 2004 to 2006); and President of The North Face, a division of VF Corp (from 2000 to 2004). Previously, Mr. Egeck held senior leadership positions at Columbia Sportswear and Seattle Pacific Industries. Mr. Egeck has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. from the Michael G. Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
